the end *sigh*

I have finally finished Middlemarch, more through bloody mindedness than literally enlightenment. I did not care for Dorothea (in fact I wanted to box her high and mighty ears) with her ill fate marriage, and the reversal of fortunes that lead to delayed happiness. As far as I can see Dr Lydgate got what he deserved by marrying a frivolous gal, but turned things around by having a successful computer game named after him. I was indifferent to all their shenanigans, which is probably why the thick tome sat gathering dust for so long. At least Vanity Fair and Pamela provoked an emotional response (even if it was anger) this just left me with a whimpering apathy.
